Meeting at the Simons Foundation in New York

During 16th till 18th June Shubha Sathyendranath, Marija Bačeković Koloper, Robert Brewin and Žarko Kovač attended the Annual meeting of the CBIOMES project at the Simons Foundation in New York.

The 2025 CBIOMES Annual Meeting took place from June 16th till 18th at the Simons Foundation in New York City. The event brought together a diverse group of collaborators for plenary talks, breakout sessions, poster presentations, and hands-on workshops focused on marine microbial ecology, biogeochemical cycles, computational tools and deep learning applications. Sessions covered a range of topics: from macromolecular allocation in phytoplankton to machine learning in ocean modeling, and included opportunities for informal collaboration and networking. 

 

 

Marija Bačeković Koloper, Robert Brewin and Žarko Kovač presented posters, which are available for download below. Robert Brewin and Žarko Kovač also gave plenary talks during the Lightning talks sessions. Robert Brewin presented his ongoing work on the modelling of chlorophyll profiles at the Bermuda Atlantic Time Series station, while Žarko Kovač gave a talk on antifragility of primary production. The educational materials on modelling primary production were also presented during the meeting. A meeting with scientists from Dalhousie University on photosynthesis irradiance measurements and parameter estimation was also held.
